Mistah Wilson, publisher of ThaWilsonBlock Magazine, briefly met with Councilman Victor Gordo of Pasadena’s District 5. Percy Johnson saw Mr. Gordo walking the neighborhood campaigning for re-election on March 7th, 2017. Johnson introduced Mistah Wilson to Gordo as they spoke about local landmark districts, Rose Bowl renovations, and the upcoming music & arts festival coming to Brookside Park.

Mayor of Portland, Oregon endorses Hip Hop Day event

A year ago, as Mayor of Portland, Oregon Charlie Hales endorsed the first Hip-Hop Day event, the mood was hesitant but hopeful. The friction between city authorities and hip-hop performers was cooling off. The debut event drew a crowd and strong performances from local MCs and DJs. For a music community that’s often felt unjustly targeted, it looked like progress.
